Daikin awarded top energy rating

UK – Daikin UK have announced that their Altherma Monobloc, Low Temperature split and Hybrid heat pumps have received the highest possible rating, A++, under the Energy Related Products (ErP) Directive. The energy labels are to become obligatory within Europe from the 26th September and have been designed to allow for easier comparisons of the energy efficiency of heating and hot water products.

The ErP Directive was introduced to help enable engineers and customers to more readily identify the most efficient products available and are also aimed at creating awareness of, and lowering, the environmental impact of space and water heaters.

The efficiency ratings are rated on a scale from the most efficient, A++, to the least energy efficient, G, meaning that consumers and installers will be able to make a direct comparison between products as well as different technologies.

The fact that the Altherma range of air-to-water heat pumps has received this A++ rating, ensures that the pumps are in compliance with the new design requirements under the Ecodesign Regulation and ErP and also present an opportunity for government funding under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

Nancy Jonsson, the Commercial Director for Heating for Daikin UK, declared, “Achieving the highest possible rating under the new ErP legislation, the Altherma air-to-water heat pumps have showcased their high energy efficiency capabilities.

“With these new energy labels in place on our products, we are sure installers and consumers will now have the tools to choose the most energy efficient heating solution possible.”

Daikin UK have also recently published a white paper, ‘New Ecodesign Rules and Energy Labelling for Space and Water Heaters’ in an attempt to explain the upcoming legislation to its customers.
