Domestic ground source project awarded prize

UK – Geothermal Solar UK were the worthy winners of the domestic ground source project of the year as announced at the National ACR & Heat Pumps Awards in Birmingham last night. The winners landed the award for their Dimplex Solution in Kincraig project.

The project originated when Alan Bell approached BRE Scotland in August 2014, looking for a recommendation for a company to install a ground source Heat-pump using a Burren (river) beside his house as a heat source.

The house, which is located in Kincraig, Scotland was built 20 years ago and was, for that time, very forward thinking with high levels of insulation and under floor heating with an oil boiler.

The jury also highly commended Viessmann Ltd & Green ACT, while the following projects were also finalists: Be Green – New Build of Large House Finn, Geotherm – New Five Bedroom House, Geowarmth – Grand Designs NIBE Installation, Kensa Heat Pumps Ltd – Trent & Dove Housing Association, RA Brown Heating Services Ltd – NIBE Installation in Old Farmhouse Stratford, Energy Solutions Ltd – Oil Boiler Replacement and Viessmann Ltd – Huf Haus at Brooklands
