Emerson Climate Technologies Prepares Leadership Transition

UNITED STATES – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business segment of Emerson , will have a new executive in charge following Emerson’s board of directors meeting held on Feb. 3, 2015. The business leader for the past seven years, Ed Purvis, has now been appointed chief operating officer for the parent company in St. Louis. Taking his place at Emerson Climate Technologies, which has its headquarters in Sidney, Ohio, will be Robert Sharp, a 19-year veteran with Emerson.

Purvis has served as both executive vice president and business leader for Emerson Climate
Technologies since 2008. His Emerson career began in 1983 at the Copeland business unit and he has held positions of increasing responsibility across the organization. Throughout his long and distinguished career with Emerson Climate Technologies, Purvis has also held a number of key industry roles and currently serves as chairman of AHRI.

“I have enormous respect for the HVACR professionals I have had the opportunity to work with during my 31 years with the Emerson Climate Technologies businesses. I have been fortunate to have been part of the evolution and growth of this industry. Most notably, I am proud to have been associated with the launch of Copeland’s scroll
technology over 25 years ago and last year to be able to celebrate the production of the 100 millionth Copeland Scroll™ compressor,” Purvis declared. “I’m excited about the future of this business. We have been a long-time industry leader in compression and controls and now have expanded our role with the integration of electronics and services into our business.”

Currently vice president of profit planning for Emerson, Bob Sharp most
recently led the development and implementation of the company’s Perfect Execution strategy. Sharp joined Emerson in 1996 and has held various positions of increasing responsibility, including president of the Rosemount Level and Marine business and president of Europe in the Process Management business. Sharp has a BSC degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
