New app for Mini-split Heat Pumps

USA – Online HVAC controls have been freely available to consumers over a number of years, whereas mini-split heat pump owners have been forgotten about until now. This has now changed as PowerWise have recently announced the launch of smart phone and web controls for these energy-efficient combined cooling & heating devices.
Mini-split users can now adjust temperature settings online via an energy management dashboard, with the possibility of creating up to 8 heating and cooling periods. Powerwise also claim that commercial customers will be able to apply thermostat templates to multiple locations.
As mini-split solutions often replace fossil fuel based heating systems, it seems logical to combine controls with an energy monitoring solution. Without using an energy management system it is impossible to calculate the energy savings accrued but by measuring mini split power consumption and costs, the savings generated vs. natural gas or fuel oil heating systems can be easily demonstrated.
“Because these mini-split heat pumps are so popular, we expanded support of HVAC controls to these systems,” declared Carsten Steenberg, CEO of PowerWise. “People can not only control temperature with their smartphones, they can also see the costs and full impact, especially when combined with our room sensors.”
PowerWise also claim that their air quality sensors will be able to show the temperature, humidity, CO2, and VOC levels within a home or business. These sensors are an extension of their already available energy management system.
Apps are available for both iPhone and Android phones which can control the mini-split heat pumps and remotely monitor their energy use.
This new PowerWise app is suitable for use with various brands including Mitsubishi (including Mr Slim), Fujitsu, Daikin, Panasonic, LG, and Samsung mini-split heat pumps.
