Hotel installs two ultra combined heat and power systems

USA – A 45 storey; all-suite hotel in Midtown Manhattan has purchased two InVerde ® Ultra, INV-100, combined heat and power (CHP) systems. The hotel expects to cut annual energy costs by an estimated $118,000 via the units and hopes, through Tecogen’s Ultra low emissions system, to practically eliminate the production of criteria pollutants and compounds contributing to smog. The units will also supply emergency back-up power to the hotel.
The two CHP units will be used to provide electricity, space heating and domestic hot water for the hotel. Additionally, the CHP units will reduce the hotel’s annual CO2 per year carbon production by 607 tons, which equates to taking 469 cars off the road.
“The Tecogen systems are a perfect solution for the energy needs of large hotels in urban areas, especially New York City,” declared Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. “We have a great solution for hotels. Tecogen brings down your energy bill with our environmentally-friendly technology while protecting your building and guests from power outages.”
Tecogen manufactures, installs, and maintains high efficiency, ultra-clean combined heat and power products such as natural gas engine-driven cogeneration, air conditioning systems, and high-efficiency water heaters for use in residential, commercial, recreational and industrial properties.
The hotel has also signed a long-term maintenance contract with Tecogen.
